Adults have fully developed wings and are capable fliers

Reddish-brown in colour with light markings behind the head.

28-44mm long

They are mainly found in basements, in kitchen/bathroom cupboards, sewers, and drainage systems (Damp warm areas).

The female deposits an egg capsule (25-30 in her lifetime) in secluded areas normally near a food source these contain approximately 14 embryos.

The American Cockroach become a public health concern due to their association with human waste and disease.
