German Cockroach

Probably the most invasive species of cockroach in dwellings and food establishments.

Light tan to reddish brown in colour with 2 distinct dark parallel bands running from its head down the body.

Approximately 15 mm in length

This cockroach lives indoors in close association with people. It prefers warm areas, i.e.  kitchens & bathrooms, but can be found in all rooms in the house, as well as restaurants, supermarkets, hotels etc. They prefer living in cracks and crevices behind stoves and fridges etc.

German cockroach females – unlike most other roaches, carry the egg capsule protruding from her abdomen, until ready to hatch. Each capsule contains 30-40 eggs.

As with other cockroaches – also poses a health hazard to humans.
